Anger! Frustration or Impatience? Tips to stay on top

These days, it is only to easy to feel frustration or impatience. There are so many demands on our time. Responsibilities pile up. We want a little time for ourselves to do our own thing. When a person feels pressured, then the flames of impatience, frustration and anger may begin to heat the mind.

How to get a handle on this without blowing up at someone?

There are foods and habits which promote the fire of anger, frustration, etc. and those which can help reduce it. There are also techniques we can use to give ourselves and those around us a break from the emotional fires.

To tame the fires, so to speak, an easy first step is to cut heating substances out of our diet. Tomato, onion, garlic, vinegar, mustard, pepper, chili, and hing are all very heating. By eliminating these things many people have experienced a reduction in hot-headedness. These substances also promote acne, rashes, and skin blemishes. Eliminating these substances can, in many cases, start to help clear up unsightly skin conditions.

Skipping or delaying meals will also promote the hot-headed emotions of frustration, anger, and impatience. For your own centeredness, it is wise to eat meals on time, at the same time every day. Most people need at least three meals a day.

Try short, warm showers with cool rinse for the head. Long hot showers promote both fire emotions such as anger and frustration, as well as vata, air and space issues such as anxiety, worry, nervousness, etc. This is because long, hot showers heat you up and dry you out.

All the indigenous systems agree on early bedtime by 10:00 pm. This is because fire element dominates from about 10:00 to 2:00, both day and night. So routinely staying up till after midnight promotes impatience, frustration, anger, and other fire issues.

Be proactive and help your system to cool down from buildup of fire issues. In addition to the above measures you can use more coriander on your food, take dandelion herb and root, eat cilantro every day, take asparagus root, and eat cucumber. Note that cucumber can be cooked to be eaten with breakfast or dinner. Make sure that you are getting cooked green vegetables every day. For extreme fire issues take neem and/or andrographis.

Sometimes mantras are critical tools in managing emotions. Let me know if you need help in choosing mantras.

My true turning point in beginning to be aware of and get a handle on these issues for myself is detailed in the multiple award-winning book, Finding Real Yoga.

"Having had the privilege of working with Daren Black as my Ayurvedic practitioner for the past year and a half, I approached Finding Real Yoga with a sense of reverence and genuine curiosity. I’ve often wondered what led Daren to the healing arts—and how he became so grounded, intuitive, and spiritually attuned. This book offers that origin story, and it’s nothing short of extraordinary.." Robyn Wright

"Daren Black was my yoga teacher for many years including the time covered in this book. His knowledge of yoga is deep and his personal connection to Gurudev is close and long-lasting. In this book he generously shares his understanding of yoga with rich stories and insights from direct involvement with Gurudev Sri Sri and The Art of Living. It is a treasure of valuable wisdom from a devoted yogi." Amazon Customer

On August 3, just a couple of months ago, I rear-ended someone. It was my fault. I felt totally stupid. How could this possibly happen? My car's horn was blaring, non-stop, continuously. Loud and nerve wracking. The steering wheel airbag exploded in my face. Then it burst open with a gush of super heated air that burned the glove off my hand. Thank goodness I was wearing gloves! I had a giant hole in my glove and intense pain. The woman whose car I hit was very understanding. I figured out a...

Years ago I was feeling a lot of frustration about being tired. I had taken steps to get my life onto a more stable track after being homeless. I had an apartment and was working consistently. I was eating solid meals at least 3 times a day. I was managing my daily schedule to promote health. Yet I was tired. A lot. Even with daily yoga and meditation. I met a famous healer who said, "Well, maybe your aura is out too far!" Most people don't talk about that. If you think it sounds woo woo,...

This is a slight tangent to the usual focus of my emails. I promise we will come right back in the next email with some juicy material you can use to help yourself. (On that note, please let me know if you have any concerns with being sensitive or experiencing energy fluctuations. I am putting together some training to deal with that. Maybe you were told you are too sensitive!?) Back to the important tangent: Like me, you may have been concerned about the loss of Rainforests. Since this is a...
